Econet Telecom Lesotho's management has made a conscious decision to go beyond transforming peoples' lives through innovative products by also investing into the same community from which the company emerged by supporting a wide range of corporate social investment initiatives primarily aimed at the disadvantaged such as orphans, as well as other sectors including education, Arts and Culture.

ARTS AND CULTURE
Econet Telecom Lesotho Sponsors the annual Morija Arts and Cultural Festival, the celebration reflects the traditional as well as the modern culture of the people of Lesotho. The Morija Arts and Cultural Festival is organized by the Morija Museum and Archives. The festival is supported by the government of the country as well as the Royal Family. ETL has been the main sponsors since 2008. The four-day program is usually packed with a myriad of exciting shows and activities depicting the great diversity of Sesotho culture, from the most traditional to the most modern. It brings together hundreds of performers from across southern Africa to celebrate a common unity in diversity.

Capernaum Trust
Higher Life Foundation Lesotho herein referred to as Capernaum Trust is a christian organization based on christian faith principles. Capernaum Trust seeks to transform disadvantaged orphaned children into History Makers with a global vision and a mindset that knows no limitations. This is achieved through educational support and training and spiritual growth.

Coverage in Lesotho

Capernaum Trust is operating in all the ten districts of Lesotho and has divided the districts into two, Northern and Southern regions. The two regions are manned by two officers each responsible for five districts and who work closely with the contact teachers in the schools under the sponsorship. The Northern region comprises of Butha-Buthe, Leribe, Berea, Mokhotlong and Thaba-Tseka with a total of 59 schools. Southern region includes Maseru, Mafeteng, Mohale'shoek, Quthing and Qacha'snek with a total of 79 schools. The foundation covers 138 (42%) of the 326 Secondary schools in Lesotho. Primary Education in Lesotho is free hence our assistance begins at Secondary to Tertiary levels. The contact teachers assist with invoice collection, implementing and monitoring school attendance, academic perfomance, spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of the History Makers.

ETL awards best performing students at the Universities in Lesotho annually; the awardees come from the following areas of study:

• Engineering in Electronics and Cisco Networking.

EMPLOYMENT CREATION

• In line with its vision of bringing communication to all people of Lesotho, Econet Telecom Lesotho has invested massively in community phone shops and payphones. In the process of bringing convenience to those communities, it has also assisted in empowering the community by giving them a chance to be entrepreneurs by running these phone shops and payphones.
• Econet Telecom Lesotho provides work attachment to Electronic Engineering and Information Technology students from the Lerotholi Polytechnic, to give then practical experience in the working environment, as a requirement for completion of their studies.
